Translators, copyists and interpreters: Jews, Christians and Muslims

April 26, 2017 - April 28, 2017

The aim of the international conference Translators, copyists and interpreters: Jews, Christians and Muslims and the transmission of the Bible in Arabic in the Middle Ages is to foster an international and interdisciplinary cooperation on the processes of translation, transmission and interpretation of the Bible into Arabic made by Jews, Christians and Muslims during the Middle Ages. The study of various translation strategies and techniques used by Jewish and Christian translators, combined with the attitude of the Muslim authors on the books of the Bible will help to find new fields of work, and to trace possible venues of cross-cultural transfer among translators and interpreters of these three major monotheistic traditions.
