“Unpacking the Muslim Bans: A Conversation on Islamophobia in the Courts and the Administration”

The Bridge Initiative is excited to co-sponsor with the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and GU Law’s Office of Equity, Community, and Inclusion to bring Penn State Professor, attorney, and alumna of GU’s Law School, Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia who has been at the forefront of unpacking, analyzing and “translating” the various iterations of the Muslim Bans promulgated by the current administration. At Penn State, Professor Wadhia is a Weiss Faculty Scholar, Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Immigrants’ Rights Clinic.

Professor Wadhia will summarize and unpack the various and meandering iterations of the Muslim Bans, from January 2017 to February 2018, and provide us a sense of what is to come as the Supreme Court gears up to hear arguments this Spring. The event will be moderated by human rights lawyers and Bridge Senior Research Fellow Arsalan Iftikhar who will situate these discriminatory and harmful policies within an analysis of Islamophobia.
