International Conference on Islamic Jurisprudence (ICIJ 2017): Good Governance within the Framework of Maqasid al-Shari’ah and Wasatiyyah Approach

Similar to its several conferences in the past, using Maqasid of the Shariah as its frame of reference to address topical issues of universal concern, the Department this time also chooses the timely issue of good governance as the topic for discourse. Its discourse will also be more intellectually enriching as it partners with Wasatiyyah Institute Malaysia and Al-Qaradawi Center for Islamic Moderation and Renewal, one of the principal strategies of which is to collaborate with academic institutions in promoting the presentation of issues from moderate Islamic standpoint.
This conference shall be a unique platform for both local and international academicians, professionals and researchers to engage in constructive discourse on various sub-themes of good governance within the framework of Maqasid al-Shari`ah anchored in Wasatiyyah approach. It is expected that this gathering of scholars and researchers, drawn from diverse disciplines, shall provide both the participants and presenters with the needed conducive forum for sharing expertise, exchanging views and networking.
