Rana Osman is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Law at SOAS University of London, focusing on Islamic jurisprudence and social movements. She earned an MA in Islamic Law from the same university and completed her first MA in Middle East & Islamic Studies from George Mason University. Her research focuses on the juristic discursive formations involved in conceptualizing a politico-ethical trajectory of “justice” in Muslim Sunni political thought post-2010 uprisings in MENA. Her interests include comparative Muslim political thought, contemporary iftāʾ organizations, Islamic legal theory, and sociolegal research methodologies in Islamic Studies.
